'Up' and away

Disney movies make me cry and when they collaborate with Pixar I am in tears for the whole 90 minutes! Somehow I managed to make this cake without shedding a single tear though...

This cake is of course the GPS that the adorable Russell has in UP! Before he loses it out the window of course!

The cake is German chocolate cake with toasted coconut buttercream.

Beep bop beep beep bop beep . . . With my Wilderness Explorer GPS we'll never get lost again!

Summer Time

This cake was made for a gentlemen who had just returned from a holiday in Hawaii, his wife and him LOVED it and so his birthday was Lu'au themed. The cake featured the two of them on a deserted beach with cocktails.

The cake is Chocolate mudcake with Chocolate swiss meringue buttercream.

Rugby Mania!

It's my fathers birthday! I can't even remember how old he is now-haha! This year I made him a cake reminiscent of his rugby playing days, his red, black and yellow number 14 jersey! He also has a wee rugby ball and is sitting on the rugby field, I'm glad my husband was around to correct me when I piped the lines in all the wrong places!! Unfortunately for the wee guy his head was the first thing to be eaten!

The cake is Almond pound cake and is iced with swiss meringue buttercream with almonds all through it!!

Sweet 16

My gorgeous niece turned sweet 16 this week! The cake was designed as a joke, she is not a pink girl and it is always her way of getting out of an adult conversation by saying 'I'm not 16, I'm not old enough for this!'. So for her birthday I made a lingerie cake in a pink 'R' monogrammed box.

The cake is chocolate mudcake with strawberry swiss meringue buttercream! Yum!

21st Birthday!

I love cakes-they mean parties!!!

This cake is a pink, black and silver design based on a gold and pink 'bling' one that I have done previously.

The cake is flavoured chocolate mudcake with strawberry swiss meringue buttercream!!!

Apple for the teacher

I had the pleasure this year of making a cake for a wonderful principal I know! She is 61 and still working hard without aging at all! Her cake features her sitting on a classroom mat with school books around her, around the sides of the cake there are two chalk boards; one with her age and one with her name, a cloakroom with bags, scarves, mittens and hooks and a wall of paintings which my husband had a lot of fun making! To top it off there are of course several apples around the cake!

The cake is Cookies and Cream pound cake with Cookies and Cream swiss meringue butter cream!

Is there anything better than a baby cake!

I can't help but get super excited when a baby arrives! I think everyone does right? So I was very happy when I was asked to make a cake for a wee baby girl's coming home party! She was born at 22 weeks and was just allowed to leave the hospital! The cake is chocolate mudcake covered in chocolate ganache then decorated with a white crib with a wee baby girl in a pink onesie with ears and soft toys around!

My sisters birthday!

Well it's that time of year again in my family! Birthday season! My lovely sister turned 23 and the other week she let me sneak into her Biology lab and look at her cute cultures, so her birthday cake this year is based on my favourite culture, who looked like an alien, coming a little too alive!
The cake is macha green tea with white chocolate swiss meringue buttercream!

My first cake to be sent into the blogosphere!

My first entry into a blog! And it's super exciting!

Todays cake is one of my favourite designs, a cute wee Jet Plane! The couple wanting the cake had been to a leaving party where they had seen a similar cake of mine and when they needed a birthday cake for their daughter about to be off on her OE they decided it was the one. For the occassion we messed around a bit with the original and Kiwified it-the plane cake now features shades of black, grey, silver and white with funky fern designs!

The cake is Banana (yummy!) covered in Banana and Caramel swiss meringue buttercream!
