God Save The Cream

This coming Monday is, lucky for us, a long weekend! A day off in honour of Her Majesty, The Queen. The Cake Eating Company will this weekend be at three Christchurch markets. The usual Deans Bush on Saturday but also Encraftment Market on Saturday and Market and the MET on Monday! A busy weekend.
To celebrate this auspicious day The Cake Eating Co. has created a special everything English dessert menu and also has made this TO DIE FOR cake.
The bottom tier is layers of Earl Grey tea soaked chocolate sponge, milk chocolate and Earl Grey tea mousse and milk chocolate ganache. The top tier is layers of orange and sherry soaked vanilla sponge, vanilla custard, raspberries and white chocolate ganache. All encased in the Union Jack and the Queens head. Rather delightful don't you say? If you want to win head over to The Cake Eating Co. on Facebook and share the link. You can't have a birthday without cake!
On the stall there will also be miniature versions of these two cakes as well as some other truly delicious delights! Make sure you stop by and say hi! xx

Where the brides do roam...

Wedding cakes aren't always the easiest thing to make. You either know what you want or you don't. If you don't then there is often so many different options and themes that you don't know where to start! A gorgeous young couple had a similar problem and after months of debating and mind changing I was left with the final decision. Their criterial was: over indulgent chocolate, red, something for people who don't like cake, musical and involving some cute wee hearts the bride had made for decoration. I think this extreme chocolate cake fits the bill. It is covered on over 300 Belgian truffles and the heart up top has music notes all down the side!
